Q2 2024 iOS Performance of Top Film & Television Apps in the US

As we delve into the second quarter of 2024, the iOS platform has witnessed interesting trends in the Film & Television category. Here's a snapshot of how the top apps have performed, based on Sensor Tower's comprehensive data.

Disney+ saw a fluctuating revenue trend, starting at $5.8M in the first week of April and peaking at around $8.5M by mid-June. Downloads remained relatively steady, ranging from approximately 300K to 500K, while weekly active users hovered around the 3M mark, experiencing a slight increase towards the end of the quarter.

HBO Max: Stream TV & Movies experienced a dip in revenue in May but saw an early quarter peak at $6.6M. Downloads were generally around the 1M mark, with a notable drop in the latter half of May. Weekly active users started strong at over 10K but saw a decline, ending the quarter with about 3.4K active users.

The relatively new contender, Max: Stream HBO, TV, & Movies, launched in February 2024, showed promising growth. Revenue increased from $4.5M to nearly $7M by the end of June. Downloads began at a high of 9K in May, slightly tapering off to just under 6K. Weekly active users saw an impressive climb from 7.3K to over 19K in the same span.

Amazon Prime Video maintained a steady revenue stream, starting at $1.3M and peaking at $1.7M mid-June. Downloads saw a peak of 377K in early May, with a general upward trend throughout the quarter. Active users showed a slight increase, from around 1.9K to just over 2.2K.

Lastly, SkyShowtime: Filmer och serier, despite having no recorded release date, showed a steady revenue growth from $1.3M to $1.4M. Download numbers remained fairly consistent, with a slight increase from 214K to 152K. Weekly active users started at just under 3K and experienced a slight growth, ending the quarter at around 3.2K.
